Middle Tyger Education Center

Middle Tyger Community Center has broken ground on our second campus. This $19 million state-of-the-art campus, made possible by generous donors, business leaders, and community members, will expand early care and education access by over 300% in our community. We are excited to become two campuses serving under one mission to improve the lives of children and families in our community.

The Middle Tyger Education Center will transform support for children and working families. However it is more than a building- it is a catalyst for generational change. With multi-generational counseling and family support, the Center fosters resilience, self-sufficiency, and working force stability across the region.

Notably, the project introduces a unique public/private partnership, redefining collaboration between nonprofits, businesses, and government- a sustainable blueprint for communities nationwide.

"Early care and education is a cornerstone of our work at SAM. We believe that children being born healthy and supported is where it all begins. Quality care is essential not only to a child's development, but also to a family's ability to build reserves and assets that support long-term well being. We also recognize that access to jobs and career pathways is often hindered when families lack reliable, affordable care. It is all connected- and this effort brings that full circle.

Our hope is that SAM's investment in the Middle Tyger Education Center will serve as a catalyst for similar efforts across our country and region. We are proud to be in partnership with Middle Tyger on this vital work."

"We need facilities like Middle Tyger not just here in Spartanburg, but in every community in our state to help stabilize and strengthen those families because the backbone of a strong school and a strong community is a strong family."

"By prioritizing innovative and high-quality early learning, MTEC is shaping a brighter future for children and our economy. Wrap around services, such as play therapy, ensure important needs are met that otherwise may never be. It's a model of excellence the entire state should look to as we build a stronger South Carolina."
