Challenging the Community: Raise $20,000 in 20 days!
Multiple partners, including DSS (Federal Funds) and South Carolina First Steps (Private funds), have extended a statewide offer of one-to-one matching funds for endowed scholarships for children in South Carolina, through Spartanburg County First Steps.
Middle Tyger Community Center asks YOU to help us as we work to secure a match so that we qualify for the much needed funds for these scholarships. If we raise $20,000, MTCC will receive a $20,000 match in scholarships which will give us $40,000 to help operate two of our child development classrooms where the funding has ended.*
We respectfully request of you, as Friends of Middle Tyger Community Center, community leaders, teachers, and dedicated parents to help us raise “$20,000 in Twenty Days!” We already have a pledge of $1,000 which leaves only $19,000 to be raised!
To donate towards helping us reach our goal, you may donate through Pay Pal (under the donation tab), mail a check to MTCC at: 84 Groce Road, Lyman, SC 29365 or,
drop by to visit, make a donation, and receive a tour.
Please feel free to call Wanda Fowler or Lisa Hall at (864)439-7760 or email: lisa.hall@spart5.net for more information.
Other ideas to help you MAXIMIZE your donation:
You may wish to gather 10 friends to join you in donating. For example, for each person who gives $100 then their $100 will become $200; this means, if 10 folks give $100 each, the matched outcome is $2,000!!!
You may wish to develop a fundraising idea to help garner support such as: having a soup or hot dog lunch at your place of work with the proceeds being donated to help raise the $20,000. Anything you can do will help.
Remember: ALL donations will double!

In June 2009, the SC Even Start Grant which funded two of our four childcare rooms came to a close.
However, we have learned of a new opportunity that will help us to keep these childcare rooms open and continue to serve children of adolescent mothers while they remain in school and work toward their goal of graduating from high school. The program offers developmentally appropriate childcare for the infants and toddlers while also preparing the mothers to become skilled for employment so that they can sustain themselves and their child.
